Duty planner service

If you can't find the answer to your question on our website, we offer a duty planner service. The service is available between 2pm and 5pm Monday to Friday and different planners operate the Duty Planner role throughout the week. The Duty Planner can be contacted via 01636 650 000 or dutyplanning@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk (we aim to respond to your email within 3 working days). You can also ask for the Duty Planner at the reception at Castle House, Great North Road, Newark, Notts, NG24 1BY.

Please note the duty planner will not be able to provide formal confirmation as to whether or not planning permission is required for your proposal. If you require a formal view and confirmation on whether a planning application is needed for your proposal, you will need to apply for a lawful development certificate, which is a legal document confirming the lawfulness of a development.  Have you tried using one of our self-assessment forms?

If you want detailed or bespoke planning advice from a planning officer on your proposal (such as likelihood of receiving planning permission), please apply for our pre application service, where a planner officer will review all relevant site specific materials, assess your proposal and give you an indication of whether there is a reasonable chance of you getting planning permission.

Please note that we will always try to assist you no matter what the query is. We also welcome feedback on our Duty Planner Service. You can make comments online at our Customer complaints and feedback webpage, by letter, telephone, email, on social media, or in person.
