Water and river safety

Our district has many beautiful public open spaces to enjoy. Many of them feature inland water including rivers, canals, streams, lakes and ponds. We’re responsible for helping to keep you safe around this water.

One of the tasks of our parks ranger is to maintain the life belt stations alongside the River Trent (from Gunthorpe to Carlton on Trent) and River Devon.

If you notice a problem with a life belt station please contact us.

If you see a lifebelt out of its station, please put it back. Anyone seen removing belts should be reported to the police.

Be water aware

Did you know around half of people who drown never expected to end up in the water? It’s important to respect the water.

Find tips on staying water aware on the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue website.
