Food waste recycling trial
From October 2026, around 3,000 households across the district will take part in a six-month food waste collection trial ahead of the county-wide introduction of food waste collections from October 2027.
Report a problem, including graffiti, fly-tipping, fly-posting, litter bins, street cleaning, dog waste and fouling.
Dropping litter is illegal. Litter includes food packaging, cigarette ends and chewing gum.
You can be issued with a £150 Fixed Penalty Notice for littering. Fines of up to £2,500 can be imposed at court.
Authorised officers can demand the name and address of any person suspected of dropping litter on the street. Failing to give that information or giving a false name and address is also an offence.
We maintain many of the district's litter bins and empty dog waste bins on behalf of parish councils.
You can also report it on MyNs. This allows you to track the progress of your report.

We are not responsible for cleaning private land or land owned by other public bodies.
We can order them to clear their land by serving a Litter Clearance Notice.
If there’s a litter problem on roads and streets, we can serve a street litter notice on some premises. They mainly apply to retail food shops and ask the owners to make sure that the area around the shop is kept clean and tidy.
We’ll work with owners before taking formal enforcement action. In most cases, owners take their responsibilities seriously as it’s in their interest to keep the area litter free.
Where a notice is served, we can issue a Fixed Penalty Notice of £100 for failing to comply.
