Charity and community funding opportunities

A number of schemes are available to support charities and community groups as they respond to exceptional challenges of the pandemic.

Comic Relief Community Fund (England)

Grants to grassroots community organisations with an income of less than £250,000 are now available under the Comic Relief Community Fund. There are two types of grants available to organisations whose work delivers on one of Comic Relief’s four strategic themes.

Children in Need

The COVID-19 2020 Booster Grants programme opened on Monday 18 May 2020 and will enable organisations to apply for funding up to £5,000 over a 6-month period.

The COVID-19 Large Grants programme opened to applications on Monday 8 June 2020 and enables organisations to apply for funding up to £80,000 over an 18-month period.

Sport England Funding

Sport England has committed another £1 million to combat the impact of coronavirus by match funding money raised by sports clubs and community activity groups through the fundraising platform Crowdfunder.  Through the 'Active Together' partnership with Crowdfunder, Sport England are matching crowd funds of up to £10,000 raised by clubs and organisations hit by the coronavirus crisis.

Severn Trent Community Fund

The Severn Trent Community Fund re-opened on Monday 1 June 2020. The aim of this fund is to continue to support community wellbeing which is more important than ever now. Their eligibility criteria is listed on their website and they are looking to fund new projects, rather than general organisational running costs.
