COVID-19: Garden waste collections

Garden recycling collections will resume in Newark and Sherwood from Monday 1 June.

The service was temporarily suspended so the vehicles could be used to maintain the vital household waste and recycling collections to allow for the waste crews to keep safe social distancing. The Council has now been able to source additional vehicles so that the garden waste service can resume.

Please leave your brown garden waste bin out by 6am on its usual collection day from Monday 1 June as set out on your calendar here: Collection days

Customers who renewed or signed up to the service while it was temporarily suspended will be entitled to a reduced subscription for the following year 2021/22.

Garden recycling collection service

We are now offering a new in-house garden recycling service across the district.

Delivering the service ourselves will help us to meet our recycling ambitions and help us respond better to local residents.

We welcome new customers.

If you are an existing customer it is possible that your collection day may change.

If you have ordered a new brown bin please note this might not be delivered immediately but you will receive it in time to fill it up before your first collection.

How much will it cost?

For just £35 a year you will get:

  • A brown bin
  • An all year-round collection service - every two weeks between March and November, and monthly from December to February

Additional bins are available at £35 each.

The service runs from 1 April to 31 March. There are no concessions or pro-rata for joining the service part-way through the year.

Upon receipt of payment you will be given a sticker to place on your bin.

Please ensure your sticker is clearly placed on your bin. Only bins with stickers on will be collected.
