Councillors get sneak peak at brand new ASI building

Posted on: Thursday, February 22, 2024

District Councillors were invited for a tour of the ASI in Newark on Wednesday 21 February as they got a glimpse of the new building before it opens in the coming months.

All internal electrical and building works have now been completed, with just the finishing and decorating works remaining before furniture and equipment can be fully moved and installed at the new site.

The Airbus A318 moved in last year and will provide students with hands-on engineering works and pilot training – one of the only opportunities to do so at a college across the UK!

Also at the new site will be simulators for a number of different aircraft including a VR studio to train ground crew.
The ASI has partnerships with the Royal Air Force, East Midlands Airport, Nottingham Trent University and the National Space Centre to ensure that students have connections to the working world.

In September 2024, the ASI will welcome more than 200 new and current students, increasing to over 300 the following year.

This Newark Town Board project has been spearheaded by us and other partners like Lincoln College, to open even more doors to educational opportunities in the area.
