Young Dancers’ Chance To Star In Palace Panto

Posted on: Wednesday, August 31, 2022

Local young performers will once again have the chance to shine on stage as the Palace Theatre Newark brings back its junior panto auditions this September. On Sunday 11th, dancers aged between 8 and 18 years old are invited to attend an open audition at the Theatre for the opportunity to join the ensemble cast of this year’s festive show Cinderella, delighting friends, family and theatregoers this Christmas.

Running from Tuesday 6th to Saturday 31st December, Cinderella is the second seasonal spectacular produced with the Palace’s new panto partners Jordan Productions. Audiences loved last year’s feline fun with Dick Whittington and His Cat and 2022’s magical offering is sure to enchant visitors of all ages with sensational special effects, spellbinding songs and hysterical comedy.

Chris Jordan, Managing Director of Jordan Productions, said: “The Junior Ensemble are such an integral part of our shows. It was heartbreaking not to be able to include them last year due to COVID safety procedures but we’re so excited to meet Newark’s amazing young talent and welcome a select few into our amazing cast for Cinderella alongside favourite characters like Buttons, the Ugly Sisters and the Fairy Godmother.”

Councillor Rhona Holloway, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Visitors at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “I know that our district is just bursting with young talent and this is such a wonderful opportunity for them to star on a stage which has been at the heart of Newark for over 100 years. Cinderella is certainly one of the best-loved pantos and, when combined with our amazing local dancers, is sure to be a truly magical event; I can’t wait to see it!

Hopeful dancers must be able to commit to the full rehearsal and performance period and can pre-register by emailing Arrival on the day will be from 1pm at the Palace Theatre with the auditions beginning at 2pm.
