Competitions

The District Council has various competitions for residents. Here are more details about the rules and conditions of these competitions.

Give us your best shot

This competition has now closed. Thank you everyone who has entered. We will be judging the entries over the next two weeks and will then inform the winners.

With almost everyone having access to a camera these days, whether it’s on a phone, digital camera or old school film, Newark and Sherwood District Council want to see the best shots of the district.

There are four categories, each offering their own particular challenge.

If you're aged 17 or under, there are four cash prizes of £50 on offer. The two special categories have been created to bring out your creative side:

  • Town Centres (Newark/Southwell/Ollerton/Edwinstowe)
  • Out and About (Parks/Nature/Town Centre/Buildings)

There is also an open age group, which anyone can enter. Each category offers a cash prize of £100.

  • Industrial and architecture
  • Nature and Rural

It's entirely up to you how you interpret each category, and you can enter as many images as you want to. You will however only be able to win one cash prize.

We will be judging on the basis of composition, focus and quality, but we're also looking for creativity. The competition opens on 29 July and closes at midnight on 28 September 2024.
