Newark and Sherwood District Council to host its first Economic Growth Conference

Newark and Sherwood District Council, in partnership with Federation of Small Businesses, East Midlands Chamber and Rt. Hon Robert Jenrick, Member of Parliament for Newark, will host its first Economic Growth Conference on 15 October at Newark Showground. 

Through a wide variety of insightful keynote addresses and workshops provided by business leaders and experts, the Economic Growth Conference will offer businesses in Newark and Sherwood an understanding of what is likely to happen to our local economy in the future. The conference will also provide opportunities to discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise from these trends. 

Speakers at the conference include Paul Scully, Minister for Small Businesses, Consumers and Labour Markets, Minister for London Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Professor John Hess, former BBC's political editor and broadcaster and Neil Cuttell Business Manager – Economic Growth and the Visitor Economy at Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask their questions to a panel of experts to examine and discuss future challenges and attend workshops throughout the day. Workshops include information on how to upscale and grow your workforce, the benefits of international expansion and how small businesses and the self-employed can move their business forward. Providers of the workshops include D2N2 Growth Hub, NBV Enterprise Solutions Ltd, Midlands Engine Mental Health and Productivity Pilot, British Business Bank and Midlands Engine Investment Fund and East Midlands Chamber.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is committed to helping and supporting businesses which, on the back of recovery from the pandemic, has never been more vital. The District Council has proactivity offered a number of activities and grants schemes to local businesses including the introduction of the Business Growth and Resilience programme which offers local businesses free workshops and mentoring with industry experts. Grants were also available to all those taking part in the programme to further support their growth.
