Plan your activities and events with the Newark and Sherwood What’s On website!
Posted on: Wednesday, August 27, 2025Newark and Sherwood’s What’s On website has officially launched, celebrating local events and activities with a vibrant new design to make it easier than ever to discover the best events, festivals and cultural experiences in the Newark and Sherwood district.
From family events to live music, sport, historical talks, exhibitions, walking tours, theatre performances and more, the website is a one-stop destination for everything happening in the area. You can access the website at: www.whatsonnewarkandsherwood.co.uk
The What’s On website, created by Newark and Sherwood District Council, will be the central hub for all events and activities in the area, aiming to raise awareness of them, showcasing the breadth of things to do in the district for both tourists and residents, while supporting organisers, visitor attractions, venues and local groups.
Visitors to the website can search for events by date, location or keyword. A colour coded calendar will show whether the event is based in Newark, Southwell or Sherwood and beyond. More details of the listing can then be viewed, which include timings, whether an event is free or how much it costs to purchase a ticket, as well as where to find out more.
Event organisers are invited to list their events to the website free of charge, via a simple form which will then be uploaded into the website. Whether you’re running a free or ticketed event, the What’s On website is designed to support and celebrate all the activities on offer within the district.
Councillor Claire Penny, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Economic Development at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “We are fortunate to have so many incredible visitor attractions and event organisers in our district, so I’m thrilled that the What’s On website will act as a go-to destination for people to find out everything that’s happening in the local area. There really is something for everyone, whether you are interested in art, music, theatre, sport, history or culture, you can plan for your summer and beyond with this easy-to-use platform. I encourage organisers and visitor attractions to make sure their events are uploaded – listing an event is absolutely free and simple to do!”
Jessica Dumoulin, Visitor Experience Manager at RSPB, which regularly hosts events in Sherwood Forest, says: “The What’s On website is a great way for visitors from the district and beyond to search for events that will suit their interests. It’s a great tool for discovery and we hope that this will help drive awareness of our events, particularly for people who may have never attended one at Sherwood Forest before.”
