The District Council is aware of the deterioration of The White Swan Public House in Newark and our teams have taken action against the building owners in an effort to see improvements to the building.

To meet new government legislation and to support tenants to live in better homes, plans have been put in place to see significant investment in the repairs service and in building safety, alongside ongoing improvements to achieve energy efficiency targets by 2030. For these objectives to be achieved, the Council reviews its rent and service charges annually and has approved a rent increase to finance the service improvements.

Today, the government has launched a consultation on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, and everyone can take part. Nottingham and Nottinghamshire councils are encouraging residents, organisations and partners including police, NHS and education providers to have their say on the Government led statutory consultation as part of the ongoing proposals for LGR in the area.
