Rural businesses and community organisations across Newark and Sherwood have received a share of more than £267,000 through the latest round of a locally developed rural grant scheme.

The Council’s proposed budget is an ambitious, forward‑looking financial plan that protects vital local services, invests in communities, and maintains strong financial resilience during a period of national change with Local Government Reorganisation.

To meet new government legislation and to support tenants to live in better homes, plans have been put in place to see significant investment in the repairs service and in building safety, alongside ongoing improvements to achieve energy efficiency targets by 2030. For these objectives to be achieved, the Council reviews its rent and service charges annually and has approved a rent increase to finance the service improvements.

Today, the government has launched a consultation on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, and everyone can take part. Nottingham and Nottinghamshire councils are encouraging residents, organisations and partners including police, NHS and education providers to have their say on the Government led statutory consultation as part of the ongoing proposals for LGR in the area.
