Share your views on housing needs
Posted on: Monday, March 23, 2026The District Council has a statutory duty to assess the housing needs of its residents. To do this the Council is carrying out a major household survey across the district and is inviting residents to take part. The aim is to understand residents’ housing needs, including the size, type, and tenure of properties to buy and rent.
The survey responses will ensure that the right types and sizes of housing are built across the district.
To ensure positive and representative feedback, a letter and questionnaire are being posted to a large section of randomly selected households across Newark and Sherwood. The survey is open to anyone living in the district. Any residents not receiving a letter are also encouraged to complete the question online or provide feedback over the phone. The survey is being undertaken by Arc4 on behalf of the Council.
The closing date is Friday 24 April 2026, so have your say at : www.nshns2026.co.uk or call 0800 612 9133 as there is help available to complete the survey over the phone if required.
Councillor Lee Brazier, Portfolio for Housing at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Understanding and implementing policies which control and enable future housing developments is critical in building a better Newark and Sherwood for us all, creating places and spaces people are happy to call home.
“Better housing significantly improves the lives of residents, helping them stay connected with their communities and supports longer, healthier, and happier lives.”
"Have your say and help shape the future housing for you, your family and everyone in Newark and Sherwood.”
