Statement about The Cottage, Lincoln Road
Posted on: Monday, April 27, 2026The Local Planning Authority has obtained an interim injunction to prevent the unauthorised development of land known as The Cottage, off Lincoln Road, Newark.
The Authority received enquiries concerning the large plot, which is occupied only by the shell of a derelict residential property. The site has previously been considered for housing redevelopment, but this was refused due to unacceptable highway safety implications.
Due to those highway safety concerns the Council obtained an interim injunction on 2 April 2026 prohibiting development unless planning permission is obtained.
At a later hearing on 13 April 2026, the injunction was extended for a further two years. The injunction does not prevent the landowner from applying for planning permission to redevelop the plot.
